We strongly recommend maintaining a side hustle until you can live solely from your acting income. Usually this will be once you book a series regular role, or have enough residuals and royalties coming in to cover your basic living expenses.
Look for jobs with a flexible schedule that suit the demands of an actor's lifestyle: shifts you can swap, bosses who understand a last-minute audition, and work that leaves you with energy for the thing you actually came here to do.

Hot tip: if you have to choose between a paid acting booking and your day job, pick the booking. Your passion is the priority. Choose your dreams. There is always another day job.
